What quantities is digital printing suitable for?

  • It can start with just one copy! It is most cost effective on small to medium print runs. For each type of product it will vary at which point it is best to litho print so we can help advise you!

Am I limited with materials?

  • We can digitally print on a range of coated and uncoated stocks. We hold gloss, silk and matt uncoated in stock from weights of 80gsm up to 400gsm. If you have a bespoke paper requirement we can test it to make sure we (and you!) are happy with the result.

What are the advantages of digital printing?

  • With digital printing we can offer super quick turnaround for all your urgent requirements. With little set up processes needed we can specialise in offering same day and next day printing depending on your location.
  • One of the other key advantages is that you can do multiple versions or personalisation. Rather than stick with a generic version, digital printing allows you to personalise per location or store, including an option to have each copy unique with a name, image or code.
  • In addition we can offer a printed proof that will be exactly as the finished result, giving you the reassurance that you are happy with everything before the main print run.

What products can be digitally printed?

  • Most things! We can digitally print short run books, printed brochures, leaflets, posters, magazines, business cards, presentation folders, postcards, printed record sleeves, calendars, prospectuses and more.

Am I limited in sizes / format?

  • We don’t limit our clients to standard sizes – we know that bespoke sizes are important in making marketing literature stand out. Our digital presses mean we can print oversize A4 brochures in portrait or landscape, presentation folders and also a 6 page A4 portrait format. Speak to one of the team today if you have a bespoke size you need printing!

Can I still have a luxury print finish with digital printing?

  • Yes! We regularly soft touch, matt and gloss laminate digitally printed brochures and other products, this can be added on even small one-off copies. In addition we can die cut, foil block or spot UV medium run quantities. We can show you samples to help guide you in your decision!

I am on a limited budget and need to find a cost-effective solution so that all our stores have bespoke special offer leaflets – will digital printing help?

  • Yes! Digital printing is a fantastic cost-effective print solution to your marketing requirements. With little set up costs it means we can offer print solutions to meet all budgets. For your leaflets each can be personalised without a jump in cost so let us know your requirements and we can quote this for you.

More suited to medium to long run quantities, litho printing really packs a punch and you’ll love the crisp, sharp lines and colours that this traditional process produces!

What quantities are suitable for litho printing?

  • It varies! Depending on what product you are looking to produce it will determine what quantities are cost effective compared to digital printing. As a general rule for brochures for example it will be around 500 copies but again this will vary depending on the number of pages. Speak to us about your project and we will be happy to advise!

Is there a minimum and maximum quantity for litho printing?

  • No! As mentioned previously it will vary depending on the product but it is likely that quantities from 500 copies upwards will be cost effective litho printing. There is no maximum and we have produced jobs with quantities up to one million copies.

Is litho printing best for a high quality result?

  • Whilst digital printing has become very close to litho printing in terms of quality it still offers the best result in to terms of clarity, vibrant colours and ability to print on a variety of materials. The finer detail in images and type can produce truly outstanding results that give the very best finished result.

Does this mean litho printing is more expensive?

  • Not necessarily! As this tends to be more suitable for longer print runs it actually means that the unit cost can be reduced. The higher the quantity you go for the more it will bring down the unit cost. For medium to large scale marketing budgets litho printing will help deliver cost effective print solutions for a variety or organisations!

What products can be litho printed?

  • Lots! Products include brochure printing, presentation folders, luxury books, leaflets, calendars, magazines, printed prospectuses, records sleeves, posters and more.

Can specific Pantone colours be used?

  • Yes, we can print any Pantone colour. We have a 5 colour litho press which allows us to print brochures for example in CMYK with the addition of a specific Pantone colour throughout. We print various Pantone colours to match corporate branding in addition to the full range of metallic gold, silver, bronze and fluorescent inks for a premium and memorable effect.

What materials can be used in litho printing?

  • A huge range of stocks are available across gloss, silk and matt uncoated papers. Litho printing is arguably the best process for using textured stocks whether they are luxury art papers or craft boards. Weights can go from as low as 60gsm up to 450gsm thicknesses.

Can you do fast turnaround litho printing?

  • Yes, we pride ourselves on being flexible for our clients. Talk to the team about your deadline and we will do all we can to make it happen!

Is litho printing less environmentally friendly?

  • No! We use vegetable-based inks and can print on a range of recycled and FSC papers. We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment so continuously look to improve our processes so they are best positioned to support this.

What luxury print finishes are available with litho printing?

  • Anything is possible! Whether it is a bespoke die cut, foil blocking, spot gloss UV, embossing or debasing we have it covered. In addition a range of premium laminates including gloss, matt, soft touch, anti-scuff, leather and more.

  • What security assurances can you provide with regards to us providing our mailing list?

    Before clients send over their data for their direct mail campaign, we will send over a confidentiality agreement which all parties complete and sign. Once this is in place, we encourage clients to upload files via our secure password encrypted FTP site. We have many years dealing with direct mail and fulfilment projects and maintain all secure procedures throughout the project and delete all relevant files on completion of the job or campaign.

  • We are looking to print and distribute our printed catalogue to our UK and overseas customer database. What options are there for to help us keep postage costs down?

    With a range of postal carriers available at our disposal we can offer great deals on postage costs to our clients. We do this by accessing a subscription-only portal that allows us to see all delivery and price options available across the postal service spectrum. We are then in a position to pass on the best ones to you.

  • We want to produce a direct mail piece to send to our prospective customers but want a unique shape and personalisation, is this possible?

    Yes indeed! We can print bespoke leaflets, postcards or brochures that can be die cut to any custom shape. In addition, we can take your data and personalise each copy to the recipient including copy, images and of course the name and address details.

Direct marketing has always been an acceptable method of expanding a customer base, but in order to be successful it is important that the content resonates with the recipient. Indeed, the best way to get attention, engage an audience and interest an individual in any informational campaign is with a personalised message.

Traditionally, in an effort to engage an individual, mail merge was used to personalise the greeting and address when creating a multi-destination document.   • We have a series of product brochures which we think could be suitable for web-to-print but what areas can be personalised within the template?

    There is a lot of flexibility within template building to house variable data areas. This is not only restricted to copy, you can change images, background colours and styling if required. A key point when creating web-to-print templates is to think ahead to make sure that the variable data fields cover all eventualities that your web-to-print users may need further down the line.

  • What type of organisation is this web-to-print most suitable for?

    The online software portal is suitable for all types of businesses. Scanplus, in the main, runs systems for end clients; retail chains, corporates, financial industries, property companies and design agencies. But the suitability of the web-to-print software suitability is largely dependent on the driving factors behind each customers specific needs. For larger companies the main benefits tend to be based around breaking down barriers, brand consistency, ease of access and streamlining print orders. For smaller businesses reducing costs are frequently a high priority.

  • We potentially would have all staff using this web-to-print facility to order our business cards at our multiple offices. Can we set this up to get approval from a senior staff member before an order goes through?

    Yes indeed, for each product it can have its own approval process. So, for example an authorised staff member can login and order the business cards but that then sends an approval request to their manager. This way you can control exactly what is being ordered and can monitor use.

  • We run a B2C site for posters and would like to allow customers to be able to edit everything rather than follow a template, is that possible?

    Yes with our innovative MyHub web-to-print software we can provide a ‘blank canvas’. You can create your artwork from scratch using the design software on the portal. We follow this principle for our RecordSleeve web-to-print site where users have full flexibility to create and save their design prior to ordering bespoke printed record sleeves.

  • Will users be able to save their customised templates or have to start and complete in one sitting?

    Users will be able to save their current project to their basket and log back in at a later time and continue.

  • Do all templates have to end up being printed as we do a lot of digital seminars for our clients?

    No, we can also set up an option on the checkout that means you can select a downloadable file for web use rather than print. It is about setting up your web-to-print portal for your marketing requirements to make sure it works for your organisation across a number of platforms.
